Jason,
There have not been any groundings as 100LL is used today in the Tanker DC-7 and DC-6 aircraft. There is a reduction in power available as they cannot run the higher MP. I think there was a post regarding this in the past. Derating the aircraft is fairly coomon and "preferred" by the Tanker operator management I think. An example is the Dromendaer SEATS that are flying with those Russian Cyclones. They were originally about 1000 hp but are now rated at 800 at lower power settings. This adds to engine life and allows emergency power to get out of trouble. The difficulties of operating a Turbo Compound R-3350 are far in excess of any Turboprop so getting people who understand the engine is almost a greater limiting factor than the fuel required.
