No I think it was a perfectly sane and responsible idea. However, getting in a hurry didn't seem to be responsible. If the APU had been taken care of, she would be living somewhere nowadays.
There is a book out that I can't remember the name or author of, but she was written by a member of the team and also covers some of Gary Larkin's other expeditions. Excellent read.
