Training and recurency training are the biggie these days for what it takes to fly and own these warbirds. The owner/museum dictates the maintenance and operational issues and "who" will to be able to fly their "Warbirds", thus the ego comes out! The Check-Outs/LOA's/Type ratings are being looked at harder because of the mistakes/accidents from our past. So we're being micro managed by the Fed's, Insurance people and Joe "Q"--no nothing--Public/Media/Politicians. In my eyes the FAA is trying to keep things straight and are doing a pretty good job of it, don't give them a reason to question what you should already know! Our Male Ego allows us to transpose responsabilty on to something else. My point is, Ego and Money keep these warbirds in the air and the Fed's and insurance companys allow us to fly them. Off my "Soap Box"!!!! We need to "Cowboy Up", fly on and enjoy every day we can restoring, maintaining and operating these beautiful historic aircraft, remembering we're just temporary custodians in their life. Just another prospective. John Lane
