Doug,
Thanks for your insight. I agree with 95% of it...plus or minus! Where you start to lose me is, "It's up to us to us to keep our house in order and keep the Feds off our backs".
I hate to say this but I don't think our house is in order at this point. Crashing 8-10 warbirds a year would indicate this to be a true statement. The FAA is for the most part a reactionary organization. It has the warbird community under the microscope in part because the continuous string of mishaps and negative liberal pressure being placed on them to do something about that situation. First we need to get our house in order to quiet the negative sentiment which in turn will diffuse the heat on the Feds and us. Once this is done insurance premiums may level off when the entire warbird community proves it has its hands around this situation.
The key to our future is in our hands and the ball is in our court right now. Do we collectively have the where-with-all to get the job done or is testosterone going to drive us into the ground...literally. Gentlmen, place your bets!
It was my pleasure helping you guys out. Call me anytime. You can pay me back by putting me in the back seat for Kittyhawk in Dec. I know, fat chance! Roger and I had lunch with Dick on Saturday. We will be pulling the brakes off of Rogers bird in the next week or so. I'll let you know when if you want to come up and do lunch.
John
