The thing is that among the pile of 'scrap ' are some very good parts . I visited Chris Vanhee and his Ju88 project , and he had just received a container of similar metal .. he said 90% of it would be absolutely useless , but the rest were parts that were needed to allow him to continue with his restoration ....it seems you must buy the whole package , in order to get the specific goodies that are needed.
Also ,in the near future any complete wrecks are going to have to be sourced from underwater , or bogs ...the surface wrecks being prity much picked over or so innacessable the recovery costs are more than the airframe is worth to them .From what I hear the established search groups are concentrating more in this direction , but there are a few problems with some of the larger lakes , like Lk.Illmen , Pskov etc , having silty bottoms and a lot of rubbish in them , which confuses the hell out of radar equipment.
