Well, apart from anything else, it's hard to believe the Kiwis, or anyone else in the Commonwealth, would put the fin flash on backwards (or is it upside down...!) this way.

But...

These things are never certain. I remember hearing an anecdote from a model show, concerning a Heinkel 59 seaplane, beautifully presented and detailed...with the swastika backwards on one side of the tail! The judges and showgoers were all over the guy that built the model: until he produced his wartime reference photo...backward swastika and all. I only heard this, mind, didn't see it firsthand; but it rings true! So we ought to give the CAF the benefit of the doubt here. But it'd be very interesting to see the photo (if there was one) from which this scheme came.
