I'll just paste it the latest little blurb from the American Aero website:

On September 25, 2003 the F4U flew for the second time.

After a flawless flight, in preparation for landing, the right main gear refused to come all the way down.

Many attempts to extend it failed.

The decision was made to do a gear up landing.

The test pilot Dale Snodgrass did an incredible job of gently setting down the aircraft.

Damage was very minimal limited to the propeller and flaps with a light scraping of the tail gear doors.

Post incident investigation is on going but it appears a failure of the hydraulic restrictor in the gear system may be the cause.
