If I recall correctly (...mmm.... nearing bedtime for me...) there was always talk of pushing some of the W.W.I airframes out and firing up the rotaries. The Camel being cited. This goes right back to the beguinnings, and is in fact something that the much more innivotive Brooklands Museum have actually done. I hope it's possible that some of the earlier machines might get a run ourtside the Grahme White hanger they are being moved into.

As for the W.W.II metal? Highly unlikely. Most won't run as they are either missing vital bits (Defiant etc) or shells (Beafort, P-40) and franky the health and safety issues of the size engine would be scary. Rotaries are simple (smaller) engines (not that I'm qualified!) and sort of almost efficient at self cooling.

If I see action at the RAFM I'd be delighted, but I'm not holding my breath.

However, I was there Friday, and the moves mean that a few of the a/c are more accessiable for piccies than normal - if you can get there, do go. If you folks would like I could post a few pics on Webshots (despite forgetting my tripod, I got a few decent pics...)
Cheers
James
