The NASM has a particularly historic example, the first American built one, retroactivly serialed 3,101, also indicating total Wright production. Incidentally it was presented to the Museum with its original engine, the Fourth Liberty, and 1,078 hours of flying time! It was shipped to NASM in 1919, and though it was restored around 1980, is a stellar example of the type. There also was a DH-4M-1, built with a steel tube fuselage that was produced by Boeing at 150 examples and Aeromarine, 135. There were 4,846 built in the USA, and the significance of the aircraft is that there was no aircraft industry in the USA prior to the massive order for these aircraft. This is the one that was the beginning of the US war machine.

The second example is possibly the replica/reproduction DH at the USAFM Dayton.

Is the Mantz DH-4 an "M"?
