I volunteer docent at the Evergreen Aviation Museum two Saturdays per month and often the question comes up regarding how many de Havilland DH-4s have survived.
The Evergreen example is a DH-4M-1,serial ET-4 and registered N3258. It was formerly displayed at the Museum of flight in Seattle. It is the ex-Paul Mantz bird.
Robert Trimble wrote in 1978 that there were three survivors, all in the United States. He said, "...of these one is included more by courtesy than because it deserves to be , for at best it uses a few bits and pieces from a wrecked mailplane and deviates in many ways from the actual design..."
What are these other two DH-4s and are there any more that may be restorable?
