Boy. The Air Force knows just how to find a needle in a haystack and use it to prod the American public for support! There's some bad politics brewing with this one.

If the CAF was in fact vividly aware of their original agreement with the Air Force but chose to pursue the trade of the P-82 anyway, I hope they are wise enough not to lock horns over the issue. The USAF has so far been extremely lenient in regard to warbirds recovery, etc. I'd hate to see them become the next "US Navy" ;) The USAF and their limitless legal resources could run the CAF right out of business. Beyond that, if the USAF keeps waving the "terrorist" card over the issue, the future of warbird operations could suffer greatly. The ongoing demilitaration bills are already a huge pain in the butt for warbird owners/operators. I can only imagine where this fight will leave the community if it gets drawn out in a high profile legal battle with buzz words like "Osama" and "privately owned military fighters" being kicked around the court room.
