Initial YAF Air Display Report

Just got back from a long haul from Willow Run (9+ hours with stop for lunch, gas, etc), and it was well worth the trip.

I'll start by giving the show a score... 9 out of 10. It was a fantastic show! There was a wide variety of aircraft and the photo ops were numerous! The symposium was fantastic. The flying shedule was well planned and executed. The announcer... will Todd please stand up... did a superb job all day long. I especially likely the idea of playing period music between flight. Some announces try to fill the air with hot air and it just doesn't work, but Todd's approach worked very well. I especially like the interview with Bob O., and I would recommend more like it in the future.

The only draw back was the traffic control coming into the show. It took a long time, and maybe could have been better planned. Also some of the Texans parked across the taxy way were difficult to get photos of.

All-in-all it was a great show. I'll be booking my hotel and buying symposium tickets for next year as soon as they go on sale.

Pictures will be posted in the next day or so.

I almost forgot, thanks to todd for arranging the WIX gathering. It was fantastic to meet everyone in person, I only wish we had more time. Maybe next year we can set-up a drop in spot in the shade (my wife had the perfect location this year) where we can get together for lunch, a few cool drinks, etc.

I am looking forward to comments from others that attended.

Regards,

Mike
