Hi Christer,
I don't think I would trust an upgrade from Me to XP. XP is based on the NT kernel and Me on 98 (I believe?). These two OS have different ancestry and I find it hard to believe MS could get this right. I had trouble with upgrading 95 machines to 98 for one client. You know the odd crash here and there, driver stop working etc etc. After a while you end up wiping the bl**dy thing and starting again. If you suspect a virus infection then I'd suggest a wipe an install anyway. I have XP Home on my new computer and so far so good. Appears as stable as old NT was.
These are only my personal views and I suspect some people will disagree. I'm not a MS fan so that somewhat puts a slant on my views. I just live with it cos I have to. Anyway I'd try to pursure the XP Home new install path if you can find a supplier and secondly absorb the cost.
Just my two pennies worth.
Graham P
