What complete bullsh*t.

Anything that remains in PNG will be scrapped or will turn to dust. It is quite obvious that no real efforts are being made to "protect their wartime heritage". Blaming the demise of the PNG Museum's relics on these fellows is just a distraction. A simple lack of care (and resources to be fair) and lack of Government action is endangering even the airframes that are supposed to be "safe".

Blocking the export of material is hailed as a great victory yet the same material soon gets shipped off to the smelter or sits on a dockside getting vandalised.

It may be illegal but I wish these folk good luck in what is a very risky and personally dangerous undertaking. At least a few of these historic aircraft will survive the current wave of scrappings (which will continue, smugglers or not).

I do know that in 10 or 20 years time we will look back with regret on this current window of opportunity.

Flame away.
