I guess they've brought out the WWII manuals from the archives on how to deal with the aircraft of a concuered nation. see the following paragraph:

"?1 All German/Japanese aircraft should be scrapped except those needed to be transported back to US/UK for examination/exhibition." :-)

But, we should also bear in mind that both aircraft and Panzers have been gifted back to both Germany and Japan for exhibition in their museums well after the war. And right after the war not really many people cared about preserving stuff for museums, they wanted food and shelter - pretty much the same situation in Iraq today. I don't think that IVAS (Iraqi Vintage Aviation Society) have many paying members right now, and no companies supporting them or any "national lottery" to seek money from...

The question is if the Fury and other stuff will be returned in a few years time, when they're ready to care for their heritage?
