Hey guys,
I was at the Trenton press day today. I'm sad to say the organizers have not invited any vintage aircraft except Ed Shipley and the F-86. Don't get excited when you see a Spitfire, it is only plastic. The museum is towing a few of the aircraft from the airpark so at least they will be on display. I told more than a few QIAS people today how dissappointed I was that they are celebrating 100 years of flight and did not invite any vintage Canadian acts like The Great war Flying Museum, CHAA, CWH or Potter and the Spit or the Spence's Swordfish. CFB Trenton has a great history that will not be told in the air this year. It is not a matter of money because they have hired no less than 6 aerobatic acts and a jet truck. Only Bill Carter is from Canada and the rest of the acts are paid in $US.
However, I did get to go for a wild ride in a CC-130. I was able to sit in the cockpit for take-off. The pilot threw the aircraft around like a fighter and with a cargo net in place they opened up the back door for photos. We were treated to the arrival of the first operational Cormorant at Trenton. After arrival it was parked next to a Labrador and the crew were available for interviews and photos. Ed Shipley arrived in the middle of the day and flew most of his routine before landing. The rest of the show aircraft will arrive after 12pm Friday. Mike and Andrew I will be there on Sunday but not sure what I will be wearing, maybe a CHAA shirt as my WIX shirt has not arrived yet. I will either have a back pack or photo vest.
If time allows I will post photos from today on my site tomorrow night. www.airic.ca is up and running and I will slowly build the site over the next few weeks. I will also be adding photos from all the show I attend.
Cheers,
Eric
