I hate to throw cold water on this project but in the late 90's I and three others try to get permission to do some exploritory searchs at Iwo and was told by the national gov. that all crash site, aircraft pits are protectec under the Nation Preservation Act and that they were not giving anyone including the USAF/USN permission to look.

I've been talking with my elected officials about this for sometime and Sen. Snow(R) Maine is looking into interducing some sort of bill to make it legal. It seems that us hard working Americains pay for alot of Iwo and Tinianna.
