Hey, I like this!
I can think of three odd Warbird-related dreams I've had:
1. Small house beside local secondary highway; I spot some Tiger Moth bits on the lawn, then notice a loose set of concrete steps by the drive, with a vintage sprint car sitting halfway up them (shades of the Minis from "Italian Job"--go figure!). Am intrigued; walk round behind the house...to find six dilapidated P-47s squeezed into the backyard. Dream ends as I am frantically trying to find a phone to call someone...
2. Walt Soplata has sold his F2G racer back to Cook Cleland so he can run it at Reno; Cook has stripped the paint, cut half the span out of the wings (in the middle of each wing), installed an 8-blade contraprop, and mounted an extra set of wingtips up top on rusty struts for more lift on takeoff...the whole thing is left parked outside in the mud, and boy am I cheesed off!
3. The really depressing one: I have been informed that I am being given a Sea Fury. Just before I wake up, I see it taxi past on a beautiful afternoon on the old Mt.Hope flightline. Dark grey RN-marked T.20 with yellow spinner; "proper" Bristol engine up front. Ah well. If you only imagine them, they're a lot cheaper to insure... :-)
Happy Easter to all.
