.. and what did I dream about last night, the bloody Halifax.
To make things worse, there were two of them. Truely a nightmare :))
Both were complete with one sat on a trolley with it undercarriage retracted will the other stood on its undercarriage.
Both were owned by Adolph Galland (????) and he told me that all that was needed, was for the engines to be serviced and both could be flown off his farm. He wanted to convert the hangers into Turkey sheds and didn't want the money I was offering for them. How much money was I offering, I here you ask, 10 shillings each (that's ?0.50 to those not old enough to remember pounds, shillings and pence).
Starting the engines was done with a key like starting a car and all four engines started together and the last thing I remember before waking up was wondering, while taxing for take off, was why a 4 engined bomber only had a 4 speed gearbox................
And I wonder why I wake up in a cold sweat...........
Pleasant dreams, Tony
