May be we could found an international warbird court were cases like this could be brought up and the people commiting the warbird attrocities be brought to justice. Sentences could range between "life-time restoration work" on warbird projects to restoring a smaller artefact like a fin or a seat.
The next step would be to force countries to openly list their warbirdwrecks and let our inspectors visit the related areas and recover anything that can be used in projects.
We could also instigate a Nobel Warbird prize to be awarded together with the other Nobel Prizes by the Swedish King.
:-) Oh, sorry guys, I just got suddenly inspired at work and will now go back into the salt mine and continue to dig...

There are to many sad stories around about missed opportunitys
: Bf 109 W Nr 20694 was recovered largely intact near Brindi
: si. (Before you work up your hopes: the date was 1961 and
: it almost immediately scrapped). A young fighter pilot too
: k pictures and noted the W Nr. and yellow fuselage band.
: If anyone can provide details of circumstances of loss, it
: would be neat to tie-up the story. I have already posted
: on the GAVS and Luftwaffe Experten message boards.

: Thanks
