However the reason who could probably not find it is the name is CROSTHWAITE & GARDINER
Howqever, don't you have to have all sorts of expensive CAA approval do do this kind of stuff...
: Has any one tried asking Crossthwaite & Gardiner what they
: might charge to build one (or more) of these or a Jumo213
: ?
:
: This is the English engineering company that re-created va
: rious of the Auto Union Silver Arrows racing cars from the
: `30s, most recently the Streamlined AU that was at the Go
: odwood Festival of Speed. This included the 2 stage superc
: harged V16 engines. From what I remember these sounded rat
: her more complex than the DB motor - the crank was a press
: ed together roller bearing unit rather than a forging and
: I think they said that the rotating assembly contained ove
: r 1000 pieces all together! Their normal business is makin
: g up parts for Historic racing cars. If someone puts a con
: rod through the block of their Bugatti or whatever, and t
: he parts aren`t available then they can come to these guys
: to put it right. They even "distress" newly machined item
: s to make them look like the original castings!
:
: I assume that they would want a complete unit to copy or d
: rawings ( do these exist? ). They don't seem to have a web
: site, maybe someone in England could phone them for a cha
: t?
:
: Just an idea but Im pretty sure they could do it. What do
: you think?
: Cheers, James
