Hello Mick and everyone.
Yes correct on all points exept that were using the original spars, they were sent away for X-raying and came back with a clean bill of health. We're currently debating whether it's correct or not for the wings to have wheel bay stiffeners as it has two wings which we think are not the original examples and the stbd wing has stiffeners while the port doesn't so maybe we have a Va wing and a Ia wing. We have a De-havilland prop but no spinner, does anybody know of any going spare? as we will have to scratchbuild one if not. Same goes for the guns, ideally we're looking for original deactivated Brownings, but we may have to opt for replicas if we cannot find any. As for the colour scheme I'm trying to ween the boos off the idea of a Battle of Britain scheme, leave that for the BBMF, and on to her original markings as I think it would make her a real show stopper! By the way were the nose stripes RWB or just red & white? it'll be handy to know as I want to build a model of it, that should hopefully persuade the doubters. I hope to post some piccies of the Port wing in the jig on here soon so all the lads can see what's being done, we should hopefully start skinning in the next couple of weeks and I must admit to being bloody impressed by it, it looks simply super!
Carry on the good work everyone (I don't get much time for surfing so it's a good job we have people like Tony etc to sort out what's interesting and what's not, good job boys!)
Tom ;)
