Sorry Cees,
I sometimes forget and use jargon, "c/w" stands for complete with".
Like you, I have been concerned with the practicalities of rescue conservation opposed to planned conservation.
After a visit to my local sea life centre I have started to investigate the possibilities of exhibiting small pieces of sea recoveries during the flushing process, prior to full strip down.
In essence the plan is to have the artefacts wrapped in cloth and sprayed with a wetting solution as soon as possible after landing.
On arrival at the relevant display centre then they would immersed into a viewing tank and flooded with water of similar chemical composition to local conditions.
Recirculation pumps would draw the closed circuit off and after continuous on-line filtration/salinity correction left for extended flushing periods.
Condition would be monitored periodically and at intervals the salinity would be decreased.
In this way the damage could be slowed down until funds and conservation space allowed work to be carried out but still retain an exhibit.
Drop me an E-Mail rmcneill@currantbun.com off board if you want to talk about this more.
Regards
Ross
