: Tony,
:
: Well, the entire operation was done through the Dutch AF r
: ecovery team, and contacts between Holland and the UK thro
: ugh official channels at high air force level as well. So
: I think the British MOD knew and are probably instrumental
: in the donation of the 14 tons of wreckage (minus some sm
: all parts in our museum and another one in Holland which w
: ere "kindly" donated to us by the RNethAF) to Wickenby.
:
: However, during a recent meeting with the recovery officer
: who was in charge of the operation he felt it was a mista
: ke to have done that, now knowing that the parts were to b
: e sold. According to the FlyPast articel, there were even
: children's clothing and toys among the wreckage. And when
: I was there during the recovery they were so proud to have
: a huge sifting machine on site in which they claimed the
: smallest items could be recovered. Hmmmmmmm.
:
: Mind you, the whole operation was a PR-job resulting from
: the need to recover the wreck to enable the port of Amster
: dam to be enlarged. No human feelings at all, just economic
: al ones.
:
: I think I have said enough about this.

Cees,

How come these people are making these mistakes over and over again ?
In a way it remembers me of what happened to Frank D. Gallion's P-47D wreck.....It all gives one a bad taste !
