Museum of Flying Yak-3

Just thought about the story of the MoF Yak-3. How did it end up in USA and how come the Russians let go of such an (to them) historicaly significant airframe?

When I saw it, more than ten years ago, I was given the impression that it was on long-term loan, or did I miss something?

I hope it finds a good (in my opinion non-flying) home so that the original wartime config is kept as it is.
