Classic or rare? Quantity or quality?

As enthusiasts, we probably all envision the ideal museum/collection to have every major and minor type, every one-off or experimental design, and all in 100% condition, preferably flyable.
In reality, no such museum exists, nor can it exist due to practical constraints (money, space, rarity etc). So, I wonder what we prefer to see in a general purpose museum: the classics (say P-51D, C-47, T-6) or the true rarities (say Polikarpov I-16, Bf 110, Reggiane RE 2000)? And, do we prefer many rough aircraft (say, no interior, maybe some non-airworthy patches - the Duxford F-86A, certain P-39s in the US) or a few masterpieces?
The debate is open!
