Cees,

OK, Skysports Beau swapped for one of the Spits or Mustangs.

The IAF are holding on to spares, and do have engines. Can't remember for sure, but when I was speaking to one of their staff last year, I think he mentioned powerplants. He certainly asked for Merlin drawings, not sure if he said they had some Hercules or not..

I do know a Beau was on their wish list

: Hi all,
:
: Recently I saw a photograph showing the remains of the ver
: y first Mustang "01" in store at the IAF museum, only the
: wrecked tailsection. A different photograph taken by Robs
: Lamplough showed the complete fuselage of a Mustang also w
: ith the number "01" painted on, in a kibbutz somewhere.
:
: So is this the one and the same aiframe and why was it dis
: membered since Mr Lamplough took his photograph (why didn'
: nt he take it with him together with his other Mustangs, S
: pitfires, Hurricanes etc.).
:
: Furthermore, the same Israeli museum have several airframe
: s of both Spitfire and Mustang, see previous post by Tony
: (three of each?). If aircraft types used by the IAF were s
: wopped for these there could be new material available for
: restoration.
:
: Any ideas?
