: Lone Star Hurricane was recovered from a swamp near
: Gander in 1972.
:
: Canadian records must exist for a crash into a swamp near
: Gander and may provide an ID.. The construction nos is
: quoted a CCF-96..

The Hurricane at the planes of fame...
Model: Hawker-Canadian Car and Foundry Mk X Sea Hurricane
S/N: AE977
C/N: CCF-41H-8020
Codes: "LE D"
History: Mk I Hurricane (1941) AE977 RAF, AE977 RN, converted Mk X Sea Hurricane (by 1942/7), badly damaged in a collision, SOS, restoration started (1996), G-TWTD, first post restoration flight (2000/6)

So I would not be suprised if it is close to this s/n. I'll email the National Aviation Museum and see if they have anything, and check Mr. Griffin's book for any info.

BTW, the data for the Planes of Fame huricane has not been confirmed. I have only started digging up its history. If anyone has any details to add, please let me know.

Regards,

Mike
