It may have been the Planes of Fame aircraft. After it was gounded, it was taxied around on occasion until one of the engines seized. Maybe until the mid-1970's?
The POF B-17 was used in the 12 O'Clock High television series, and was probably the only stock looking (with turrets) one around in souther California at that time.
Until about the mid-1980's, there was still a considerable amount of open space around Chino airport. Most of that has now been built up with more hangars and an additional runway.
