Thanks Steve and Rob, but the base that the B-25 was photographed on, wasn't Petropavlosk, unless it was moved there? The base I was told about, also had some other American aircraft on it, but we'd supplied them under Lend-Lease I believe

I've heard the USAFM know where the aircraft is, so best of luck to them getting it out.

The other 2 B-25's of interest,40-2344 especially , and I have identified the likeliest location. Unfortunately, looking at some charts of the area, we're looking at a depth of 60-150'. Mind you, I have seen photos of recoveries of metal artifacts (iron) from that area, and they do seem in reasonably good condition. Anyone know what the Salt content is like in that part of the world?
