To Tony and Tony D

Thankyou gentlemen - Just what I wanted a lucid discussion I agree with parts of what both of you had to say.

I particularly agree with the points about the P38 and the Halifax - The point here is that they were both substantial airframes which were restored and can be said to have a provinance.

Lets take another topical example, all the Ju88 parts that are surfacing , particularly in Norway. Lets say for the purpose of discussion that there are 6 substantial airframes capable of restoration to static as an aircraft with a provinance. There are a whole host of more fragmentary remains which could indeed provide a parts source for these six.
What I suspect will of course happen is the 3 or 4 of the six will be parted out to produce 2 or 3 complete machines because it is quicker and easier and you get a result on display a lot earlier. Some mueseums would kill for a Ju88 and it would mean a lot more to a lot of people around the world if all 6 machines could be restored and traded for other aircraft.

Anyway good fun and open discussion never hurt anyone. Thankyou gentlemen I think this is a worthy discussion and I am sure it will carry on.

Kindest regards
John
