That's the same story I've heard re Diemert's 51. The aircraft is in the WW Directories, referred to as a four-seat conversion; can't recall the ID off the top of my head but iirc it may still be around, returned to stock.
Of course Diemert also had a unique Firefly 6, with a five-seat rear cockpit and powered with a Merlin 500 QEC off an Avro York. Then there were the A6M-2 and D3A-2 with B-25 QECs fitted...et cetera...He certainly was inventive...
