So, ?14 million of lottery money has gone to Brighton's West Pier which has just crashed into the sea and has been falling apart for decades but was seen as a "worthwhile project" and "an interesting example of engineering" (There are dozens of other well restored Victorian piers, but how many Vulcans?) but not a penny to the Vulcan because it may crash.
