Investors aren't the ones sittign on them. There is so little interest, there just isn't a market. They can be had in their condition for nearly nothing, but the costs to get them back in the air and licensed is very high.

I would argue that just because they are put on the market immediately after they are finished doesn't mean there is a profit...they might have just run out of money. I also have friends who enjoy the project more than the operation of the airplane and will probably sell their birds as soon as they are finished. If they can break even they will be lucky. I know that from personal experience.
