Well, that was the original premise with the Poles Cees.

They knew of airframes in Kaliningrad, Kola and Murmansk, that were in far better condition, than some of the aircraft I've seen recovered. The factory manager himself had seen them, whilst operating as technical support for the Wilgas, being used by the fisheries protection people. I believe the airframes under discussion, were P-40's.

The factory had the ability, to totally rebuild these, to as new condition, the aircraft would then be sold from the factory. PZL did an entire cost analysis, which I don't think they would have bothered with, if the airframes didn't exist. Flyaway ex-Warsaw (1992) $600k

Unfortunately, someone with more money than sense....(or maybe not?) spoilt it, by going direct, and throwing large sums of cash about.

Oh well

Still, the offer to rebuild airframes still exists, and substantially cheaper than the "Western" equivalent.

: I am not a collector in the sense of owning a warbird proj

: In Russia (or some other remote location) a cache of say 1

:
: What would the effect be on the warbird market? Would that
: result in collectors seing their investment decreasing in
: value. Would this make dealers trying to buy the whole lo

:
: This is purely hypothetical but this has been in my mind f
