Peter - I confuse myself sometimes......
I think I was just observing that PP972 ceased to be "original"(whatever that may mean) many moons ago during both it's natural service life and it's first rebuild by Jean Frelaut.
I too was also under the impression that it had always been in the ownership of your namesakes, but then wondered why it was taking so long for it to finally appear, given that it seemed so near, so long ago.
As a matter of interest, i was talking to someone who well remembers a Spitfire sitting on top of a pile of aluminium scrap in Attercliffe in Sheffield in the early/mid sixties -sadly he had no idea as to it's identity. There are two other well known Sheffield Spitfires - the Shepley Spitfire - a presentation aircraft commemorated in a pub name in Totley and of course PK724 which was a gate guardian at the Barrage Ballon site at Norton, Sheffield.
