Neil,
R8895 was ditched by Ron Pottinger shortly after take-off. He was picked up fairly quickly suffering from the effects of cold water and a little shaken. During the late 70s 8895 was dragged up onto the banks of the river as it was deemed a hazard to fishermen. It was essentially complete. The aircraft was broken up by scrap merchants, after a few articles were taken by some people. Rons son has a few parts and Ron himself is still doing well, as of earlier this year, and is amazed that his son wants some part of an aircraft that tried to kill him!!!
Hope this helps a little.....I was disappointed when I found out about the recovery
Dave
