Ok, so the next stage is......

To find out, just how good these engines are..

"Ring-ring" errrrr Guten Tag, der Boss von der Luftwaffe Museuem bitte...."

"Ja Ja, 100,000 Dm Danke"

Now I'm wondering, these things were discovered on the 25/26 October, and I'm wondering if my lousy translation, has missed the fact they were crated? I mean, last day of the war and buried? I think certain german airports need going over with a Metal detector, especially Munich (1) unless they've already built on it, and anything else along the British and American advance corridors. Was this Luftwaffe policy in the final weeks, especially if they believed they could talk the allies, into pushing straight on for Moscow? It would make sense to cache equipment, and if it was for the purposes of denial, then that makes sense too.

A few years ago, I was talking to an ex-Luftwaffe Fighter pilot, at a software presentation in Germany, who said he belived that equipment was buried in locations, pushed into coal mines, hidden in forests and dropped into lakes, in the last few weeks.

He seemed fairly sure, that the DummerSee (Dummer Lake) had aircraft in it. That is not impossible, bearing in mind how many air battles were fought over it.

Now, I wonder how much Gatow want for those engines?
