Brad, if you can swing it, a trip to Davis Monthan and the Pima Air Museum should definitely be on your to do list. Tucson is about 3 hours from Luke. Falcon Field, where Champlin and the CAF are based, is the best bum around airport for warbird/vintage fanatics. Drop by Gosshawk, which is attached to Champlin, and take a look at the FW-190D and Champlin's Kingcobra projects. There are lots of other interesting birds around the airport, such as the late E.D. Weiner's checkerboard Mustang, some Canberras, C-130A, etc., but it just depends on who has got their hangar doors open. Oh, Marsh aviation is also at Falcon with dozens of S-2 trackers scattered around waiting to be converted to turbo power. They also have a bunch of HU-16s, wonder if they are to receive turbos also? There are also PV-2s scattered all over the airport. As Tulio mentioned, Deer Valley may be worth dropping by. It used to be much more interesting before Thunderbird Aviation folded up and left. That is where the F-8 Crusaders came from (if they are still there). Lots of Nanchang's and T-6 Texans around the place too. I have not been out to Chandler Memorial in a while but there used to be lots of ex-fire bombers around, DC-4s and the like. Williams Gateway is kind of hit or miss but their are some jets about. May be more or less now as I have not been out there in over a year. Drop me an email if you want to talk more. I live just a couple of miles from Luke and would be happy to speak with you and point you in the right direction. Regards, Chad Veich.l
