This question comes up often. The choice of a historical example versus a non historical "restored" example is a moot one. Show me a case where this exists. There are no completly original aircraft that fly, and an original one must be rebuilt to fly. A time capsule aircraft is a display in its own right, but has none of the impact of a new build Mustang, if flight is your goal. The historic aircraft with a combat history will be worth more than an original "ANG" aircraft even if the "combat veteran" is 70% new build. (Assuming both are at the same level in condition) So what. Both have their place and both will appreciate. It will take more than a bunch of fabricated parts to ruin my enthusiasm for a plane...Just my 2 cents...
