Mick - I am an engineer. I understand the process that she would undergo but it's exactly that process that will mean that she doesn't leave No.1 Squadron. She is a historical display item. The unit doesn't want to preserve half a Spitfire that flew in 1945 - they want a complete one. It does tend to bring the point to the fore that in order for her to fly we have to 'accept' that she will be hardly any of the actual machine that flew in 1945. Ofcourse she is a rare machine and many enthusiats would like to see her fly but in reality how many of the people who go to air displays can tell the difference between the different marks - enthusiast's are very much the minority.
We have the TFC F.22 to look forward to - that can be a reality whereas LA255 won't.
