Hi all
I had heard various rumours but I've just read in the latest edition of Pilot that RM689 is indeed going to be restored to flying condition for Rolls Royce again by John Hart at Filton.
I always assumed that there wasn't much left salvagable of the airframe (judging from the photos I saw of the accident and the nature of the crash) but this appears not to be the case.
To my knowledge that's 3 Spitfires that were involved in fatal accidents and classed as destroyed that are being restored back to Flying condition. RW382,TE566 & now RM689.
Cheers
Paul
