In reply top New FAA AD might ground most B-17 posted by Rob Rohr on Mon Sep 23, 2002 08:52:25 AM
This is the only AD (2001-22-06) recently issued related to the B-17:

That one is old news... Tallichet's B-17 has been in Canada for months having the inspection work performed. The effective date is November 30, 2001 with compliance required in the next 180 days- so this work should already have been done (or the aircraft grounded) 4 months ago.
I find three AD notes that apply to the B-17 airframe:
73-20-02 (Front spar center section)
77-17-11 (Rear spar lower chord)
2001-22-06 (Structural integrity of the wing)

: Hi All,
:
: I spent most of Sunday with the Collings Foundation B-17 a
: nd B-24 and I was talking with some of the guys. They told
: me that the FAA has issue a new AD for the wing bolts and
: because of the cost it might appear that at least half of
: the US flying 17s will be grounded till they can get the
: repair done.
:
: It looks like both of the CAF birds are the first effected
: by this. They told me that the guys at Texain Raiders do'
: nt think they will be back in the air for two years. Also
: their has been no work on Doc Hospers 17 and it appears to
: be grounded.
:
: Cheers Rob
