"The Dragon and His Tail" is a historically accurate representation of an aircraft that contributed to the preservation of several of the freedoms from which you benefit:
- freedom of speech - to let your opinion be heard
- freedom of religion - to worship whomever you please as you please

As such a protector of YOUR FREEDOMS, your attack is sorely misdirected, morally misguided, inappropriate, and (at least to me) personally offensive. Most importantly, your comments are disrespectful to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect your freedom. Hey - I may not agree with what you say, but I promise you that I'd die to protect that freedom.

As I understand the interpretation of the artwork, the dragon in Japanese mythology (at one time a widely held RELIGION) was a sacred symbol. To show a sacred symbol publicly clutching a nude female in a provacative manner was a deliberate attempt to offend the "sensibilities" of the Japanese pilots intercepting the aircraft. I guess in some way, it is fitting that the artwork continues to evoke similar feelings nearly 60 years after the cessation of hostilities. The bravery of all who manned these bombers in WWII is, at times, beyond my limited means of comprehension, and is certainly beyond any reproach that you may offer.

Does this make me a moral miscreant? Anyone who takes the time to know and understand me would probably answer in the negative. Because my opinion does not fit within the fine moral "line" that YOU have chosen to interpret, you may feel otherwise. Based upon the opinions expressed in your post, one would logically conclude that vast numbers of the (justifiably named) "Greatest Generation" came back from the war as sexually addicted, morally deviant perverts.

I await (and look forward to) your presentation of verifiable, factual, documentation on how aircraft nose art has corrupted the moral fiber of the nation. Respectfully submitted, I remain

Your humble servant,
Mike C
