Collated, detailed history of individual RAF aircraft resides at the RAF Museum, not the Public Records Office (PRO) - located in Kew, London. If you contact them, they may be feeling generous and dig out the history card for X4555, and copy it to you (it will be only a very small amount of paper). It will list units to which allotted and dates. You would certainly be able to get supplementary info about 4555 by consulting the relevant unit Operations Record Books (aka RAF Form 540), and they do reside at the PRO. However, although the PRO does offer a somewhat expensive photocopying service, they do not offer any searching service and some fairly extensive F540 searching would be necessary to dig out the info you want. There are individuals who have familiarity with the PRO who offer research services on a payment basis. HTH.
