: For example, I don't recall ever seeing an article anyway

Classic Wings did several stories on the rebuild / flying of the Polys .... Warbirds Worldwide also did [ exactly the same story ] about the flying of the aircraft.
I am sure Graham will explain it better.... but the name change from 'Classic Wings Downunder' , to 'Classic Wings'was to give the magazine a more 'global' appeal . Of course it is still heavily about what is happening in N.Z. and Oz ... and really there is no shortage of vintage aircraft activity in this area !.
With the name change more effort has been put into gathering more news stories and articles from the Northern Hemisphere . Now this is not an easy thing to do , as the 'big boys' have had this market well covered for many years ....and it is of little use repeating the same stories over and over. Never the less , there has been, and will be unique features from that part of the world .... less so from the saturated countries of the U.K. and U.S. , and more from places like Russia , Poland , Norway etc.
In any case - if the smaller , more specialized magazines are to survive and keep a high standard , they need to be supported by subscription .... Warbirds Worldwide , excellent journal that it was , ultimately failed because of lack of support in this area . Over the counter purchase gives little real support to the actual magazine , more to the company who owns the book store ..... and realistically you benefit by subscribing in the long term ... it is cheaper !
