For those of you interested in underwater wrecks ...
The first six N3BPs destined for Norway were delivered to Vancouver, Canada early in 1941, where the RNNAF (Royal Norweigan Naval Air Force) used them for pilot training. Two of the six crashed here -- #303 into the Strait of Georgia near Point Atkinson, and #305 into Patricia Bay near Victoria.
I have no idea whether either aircraft was recovered, or what would be left of them after 61 years in salt water. But the possibility that one of those beauties could still be in the neighbourhood has always fired my imagination.
The only information I have on the two acidents, or on RNNAF training in Canada, is 1.5 pages of a book on RCAF air stations on the West Coast. Can anyone offer (or point me to) more details?
