The FAA museum is a wonderful museum, I agree. One of the things I love most about it is that many of the aircraft appear to have just come in from a mission, especially the jets in the carrier deck area... still have their original paint, complete with the exhaust and grease stainings... very authentic.

As far as museums containing more unique types, I think you will probably find that the NASM here in the US has many more.... or perhaps the US Naval Aviation Museum. The Canadian Aviation Museum in Rockcliffe, Ontario has many unique airframes as well...

NASM has the following unique examples that I can think of...

Do-335
Ta-152
He-219
Ho-229
Ju-388
Bv-155
Ar-234
Seiran
Shinden + several other unique Japanese aircraft
Spitfire MkVII
Wright Flyer
B-46
+ several others I can't think of off the top of my head

That's not to put the FAA museum down, mind you, it's an extremely important place in aviation history, as well as a repository of aviation history.

Cheers,
Richard

: I was at the FAAM on Sunday. The wings, rear fuselage and
: front end are still displayed in an underwater diorama in
: the same condition that they were found in. The cockpit/ce
: ntre section is being restored. I assume the rest of the S
: kua will eventually be restored, as it is remarkably compl
: ete and in (relatively) good condition. Time and money, no
: doubt, are the important factors here.
:
: What a great museum it is, the aircraft are displayed very
: imaginatively, especially the carrier exhibition. It make
: s a nice change to see a museum like this, instead of the
: usual "lets cram them all into a hangar" approach. Admitte
: dly, they do have a lot more space than other museums, who
: se policy of preserving as many under the roof as possible
: is entirely understandable.
:
: Here's a question: can any other other museum match the FA
: AM in terms of number of unique warbirds?
:
: Fulmar, Barracuda, Albacore, Skua, Wyvern, Attacker.
: I think some of the early WW1 era aircraft are unique as w
: ell, although i know very little about these types.
