I was at the FAAM on Sunday. The wings, rear fuselage and front end are still displayed in an underwater diorama in the same condition that they were found in. The cockpit/centre section is being restored. I assume the rest of the Skua will eventually be restored, as it is remarkably complete and in (relatively) good condition. Time and money, no doubt, are the important factors here.
What a great museum it is, the aircraft are displayed very imaginatively, especially the carrier exhibition. It makes a nice change to see a museum like this, instead of the usual "lets cram them all into a hangar" approach. Admittedly, they do have a lot more space than other museums, whose policy of preserving as many under the roof as possible is entirely understandable.
Here's a question: can any other other museum match the FAAM in terms of number of unique warbirds?
Fulmar, Barracuda, Albacore, Skua, Wyvern, Attacker.
I think some of the early WW1 era aircraft are unique as well, although i know very little about these types.
