They are nearly always playtoys. Regardless of that, why on earth would the owner be obligated to let anyone know what he is doing with his own airplane? This is the sort of thing that just widens the gap between owner/operator and the general public. They are under no obligation to tell anybody anything about the status and operation of or plans for their private property. On top of that, they get tired of the general public thinking that they should have a say. If a somebody else has a financial stake in the plane it is a different story.
I love warbirds as much as anybody, but what the average warbird enthusiast doesn't understand is the fact that owners can do what they like with their property. Unless you write the checks, you will have no say in the end result.
By the way, I know the guy that will be doing the test flying, he was told recently that the plane was ready to go. Now it is just a matter of him getting the time to fly it. I'll post pictures when I recieve them.
